Welcome to the first in a new series, Fri- food and vino- day! Kicking off each and every weekend with a fabulous recipe and vino pairing. The Vinomofo team will be providing you with vino ideas and notes for my chosen recipe each week, giving us all the knowledge needed to be all wine buff’ish around our partners, friends and family 😉
When I’m not obsessing over fash, interiors and beauty thangs, I’m cooking for our little family and friends. I love being in the kitchen and trying new recipes and foods. And I love pairing them with a good wine! If you ever want to see what I’ve been cooking, I post somewhat infrequently as @nutritiousmumma on Instagram 🙂
Anyways, for week one of Fri- food and vino- day, I’ve chosen a selection of tapas style dishes, perfect for a night in with friends and fam, watching the footy.
- apple cider glazed chorizo, because where would a tapas night be without chorizo?!
- the kids adore these patatas bravas
- goats cheese and roasted peppers because where is a platter/tapas night without cheese?!
- albondigas, little meatballs
- marinated mushrooms (although I like to do olives this way as well)
Add in a crispy spanish salad and you’ve got a wonderful feast for a fab night in! Even better, pair it with some fantastic wine to take it next level…

Over to Nicci of Vinomofo for the vino part…
“A delicious medium bodied style of wine with bright red fruits & notes of rich choc-licorice balanced with velvety tannins. The generosity of the fruits in this lovely blend will counteract the spice of the meats beautifully while the soft acidity would cut through the fatty meats and cheese. I personally LOVE the Orgy, it’s really approachable, soft & juicy! 😉 And of course, being one of our Kinda Independent wines has a very cool (and hilarious!) label.”
And to keep in with the Spanish tapas theme:
“For those who prefer a slightly more savoury red. A lovely elegant tempranillo with rich red berries and a lovely savoury spice to complement the rich flavours and saltiness of the meats. Soft tannins again to cut through that delicious oiliness!”
I’m going to be doing this Fri- food and vino- day spread for dinner tomorrow night, Friday night is Auskick night in this house, making it super annoying food wise but Saturday is perfect…Hawks are playing twilight so we can spread a blanket out, watch our beloved team and enjoy some amazing food (& a sneaky vino for mumma!). If you want to see how I make it or just how it turns out, add me on snapchat @lizzypag 🙂 Enjoy your Friday night lovelies, and don’t forget to tag me if you’re going to be tapas’ing or vino’ing tonight!! xxx
