Happy Valentine’s/Galentine’s/lovers day to you and those you love! Today is my A Very Rose Valentine’s Picnic Day. A gathering of not just my family but some of my faves and their beloveds as well. Because once you’re a parent, Valentine’s Day sort of becomes just another day…how hard is it to get a babysitter on this night of nights afterall?! So I’ve decided to just make it a big happy affair for all, whether single, coupled, familied or not. If you love anyone, you are welcome 😉 The weather is a bit of a dampener today in Melbs…what a surprise, so the picnic won’t be as sunny and rosy as hoped but we still have great food and friends so it will be fun! We are hitting up the local Botanical Gardens, picnic baskets in hand and love in our hearts. Too much?!!!
What to wear:
I wanted something pretty and romantically vibed but practical too…who wants to chase kiddies in a bandage dress or stilettos on grass? Not me!!! Anyways, so I got onto Kel of Little Party Dress for her suggestions.
What to eat:
You could go with platters like these…
but tonight, I’m straying from the usual and whipping up the following:
- spanish sausage rolls…a variation on the usual featuring chorizo in the mix
- asparagus mini quiches in prosciutto cups
- baked potatoes with some fancy sour cream & cheese (keep tummies warm & full!)
- brownies, because who doesn’t love a brownie esp on Valentine’s Day?!
the picnic setup:
I would like to say we’ll be setting up like these amazing inspo pics, but will more likely be bundles of rugs and towels to keep warm tonight!
I found this fab playlist “Picnic In The Park” on Spotify, so take your speaker and hook your bluetooth up for some background tunes to picnic to!
What are you up to for this most famous & pressured of love days?! Ha ha! Hope you have fun with your most beloveds and keep an eye out for pics from tonight…or pop down if you like!
