Fave things Friday #8…the early Mother’s Day ed.

It’s FriYAY yet doesn’t really feel like it due to a short week, but that won’t stop me celebrating! With Easter and the school holidays done and dusted, it can only mean one thing- Mother’s Day is just around the corner. I’m putting together a couple of mum related posts- this one, my fave things for the week which are also mum’s day related and then another shopping guide. This guide will be handy to pass onto the kids/hubby with things highlighted and circled or just some ideas for #treatyoself or your own mumma.

So this is week EIGHT of my fave things Friday! I hope you’re enjoying this weekly post, finding some fab new things to do, read, buy, make and watch. I’m enjoying putting it together each week xx

do:

Got a mum who is a real foodie? Why not send her on a truffle hunt?! Run on select dates from June to August, the Red Hill Black Gold Truffle Hunt is headed up by Jenny and Thomas (pictured above) who lead you on a truffiere tour, a truffle hunt followed by tastings. MP Experience have also organised a number of different foodie hunts from mushrooms, mushroom and truffle combined to hazelnut! So if truffles don’t float your boat (not sure how that would happen!) then check out the other tours here. More info will be coming about the ‘shroom tours! I’ll be at the first one and I’m a little bit excited having never done a foodie thang like that before!!

read:

I luuuurve reading. Obsessed. Always have been, hopefully always will be. And more than novels, I love me a brand spanking new cookbook. And because I’ve always wanted to have a cooking club, this new release is super appealing. Their 3rd book together, the Monday Morning Cooking Club girls are a group of 6 Sydney Jewish women who love food and raising money for charity. “…reflecting the Jewish people’s love for food and cooking, and the importance of the family table.” In store or online at Dymocks for $49.99

buy:

With a not too high (8cm) ah-MAZING heel and a 50% off second pair offer in play at Jo Mercer, it’s win/win. One pair for you and one pair for mum/daughter/sister/aunty/bestie/stand in mum. These Solange Dress Calf Boots are just gorgeous and will look fab with skirts and the cropped jeans that are so popular right now. Husb, you better have opened this email and have taken mental note…otherwise I’ll be forced to take matters into my own hands! πŸ˜‰

make:

I’m just going to leave you the link to Thalia’s so very beautiful journal of recipes. Her creations are just beyond and are a reflection of her journey through life. I find it simply amazing and inspiring the ways in which others express themselves. Although if I stop to think about it, my food probably reflects where I’m at in life too…at the moment I’m a bit scattered as I try to find routine and balance with wife’ing/parenting/blogging/working/everything. My meals are less than impressive at the moment!! But seriously, have a look at Thalia’s Butter and Brioche site, her recipes are truly stunning. Then recreate one for Mother’s Day πŸ˜‰

watch:

I think we all know I’m a tad excited about Cabaret. It kicked off it’s Melbourne stint last night with the first preview show, and opening night is this Monday and I will be there!!! Woo hoo!!Β  If you and/or mum would love to see it as well, it’s playing in Melbs until May 20th, get tickets here. I’ve never seen it and cannot wait…only 3 more sleeps and I’ll be there! Would be a great Mother’s Day date with your mum or fave person.

Happy FriYAY! Have you seen my very first video? If not, pop here…and then Liz loves…the second episode is here!!! Make sure you watch the 2nd episode as it tells you how to win some very rad faux glow products!
