Meandering with Max for Mushrooms in May

If only one could tell true love from false love as one can tell mushrooms from toadstools. Katherine Mansfield

One of my fave winter dishes is mushroom soup. When I have steak at a restaurant I always get it with mushroom sauce. My choice of breakfast/brunch dish when dining out always involves mushrooms. So you might say I have a thing for ‘shrooms.

When MP Experience announced Max of Max’s at Red Hill Estate was hosting Max’s May Mushroom Meander, I was all sorts excited. As some of you may know, Max is actually hubby’s uncle and Danielle of MP Experience is actually his aunty but I had no idea they had this planned until recently (am all over family happenings obviously!!). Hearing about it on the family grapevine, not from the horses’ (aka Max & Danielle) mouth, meant I jumped online immediately to read up about it…

what: a 4 hour tour led by Max and Danielle through Max’s favourite mushrooming spots in Red Hill, learning the ‘shrooms from the ‘stools. Following this, learn the secrets to mushroom preparation and cooking before a two course mushroom based lunch with a glass of Red Hill vino. Yasssss!!!

when: Saturday 20th, Sunday 21st, Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th May beginning at 10.30am

where: Max’s at Red Hill Estate Winery

cost: $100pp, places each session limited

how: book here

Guess what? I’m going to the May 20th session, want to come ‘shrooming with me? I have a ticket in my hot little hands to give to a fellow mushroom lover! Email me at lifelovesandliz@gmail.com if you would like to come! If you can’t make that date, just click the link above to book a different time πŸ™‚

Of course, I have fash concerns for the day. I’m not sure I have suitable meandering attire. I’m thinking these few bits could be just what I need…it is Mother’s Day on Sunday so #treatyoself and all πŸ˜‰

Hunter Slim Zip Rainboot at Birdsnest $239
boho bird Warm Heart Vest at Birdsnest $89.95
Stirrup Pant at Birdsnest $99.95 (perfect to wear with boots as they won’t ride up!)

In the meantime, like the 11 days until I actually go meandering, here are a couple of my fave mushroom recipes…

Hungarian Mushroom Soup with Dill by Platings & Pairings
Caprese Stuffed Garlic Butter Portobellos by Cafe Delites

So who’s in for ‘shrooms and gumboots? I can’t wait to go and learn and taste and meander! I’ll be sharing lots whilst I’m there so make sure you keep an eye out for all the fun so you can get all jealous and book immediately…but then there might not be any spots left so best you book now really. Come and be my mushrooming mate, it will be fun!!! xx
