Bayside Shopping Centre have recently launched a fabulous in centre initiative in partnership with Community Support, ‘Creating Change – Homeless not hopeless’. Community Support is a charity assisting the local homeless. Bayside have set up Creating Change Thought Pods in the centre where you can listen to the story of a local person experiencing homelessness. There are so many reasons aside from financial whereby individuals and families find themselves living in their car, on someone’s couch or on the street. Take the time to listen to one of their stories and create a paper crane- a symbol of hope and healing during challenging times. For every crane created, Bayside will donate $1. As part of this fundraising, the Bayside team have also organised a charity screening of Snatched at Hoyts in Frankston. For $16 you receive your ticket, free popcorn and a free drink!!! It’s happening on May 18th, aka next Thursday! Click here to book and I’ll see you there! Tickets are limited.

Local mum Leigh Van Der Horst lost her mum to cancer in 2008. She wrote this book to tell of her journey through this grief, to finding her own identity as a motherless mother. I still haven’t read it…I should…and I want to, I’m just not sure if I want to open myself up to the remembrance of the pain. I know I will read it one day, I’m just summoning the courage. But if you too are a mumma-less mum, this book is highly recommended by many. The sisterhood of motherless mothers is shown by the sharing of personal stories from women around the globe. Get it here.
