On Friday I made mention of how I intended to undertake Stephanie of Love Your Wardrobe‘s #10x10capsulestyle Challenge. In a nutshell, the challenge involves taking 10 pieces and wearing them in different combinations over 10 days. For someone who constantly craves change in her clothing, this will be difficult but I’m also looking forward to the challenge of it. I sat down and wrote out the days and what happens each day and given it starts on Monday (today!) and includes 5 work days, so half the challenge, I decided to go with a wholly Motto wardrobe. Motto being my werrrrk. This is how I intend to go about it!!
I flicked back through Stephanie’s past challenge outfits, noting the 10 different pieces she wore and used that as a basis for my wardrobe. I decided to change a few bits around and ended up selecting 4 bottoms, 4 tops and 2 jackets.
These are my picks…
- Black Scuba Bodycon Skirt $69.95
- Ponti Leatherette Pull On Jean $99.95
- Moss Buckskin Pull On Pants $69.95 (sale)
- Charcoal Viscose Tube Skirt $79.95
- Moss Velvet Bell Cami $89.95
- Floral Slub Gypsy Top $110
- Bordeaux Velvet Chloe Tunic $99.95
- Black Print Hilo Bell Top $99.95
Each day I’ll be putting together combinations of these 10 pieces and sharing the pics on instagram. I can’t wait to share with you my daily #10x10capsulestyle ensembles, proving you don’t need a million pieces to create plenty of different looks…though it is fun shopping for new pieces to add into the basics.
The bottoms I’ve selected are all really awesome wardrobe basics-pieces that can be worn year in, year out in numerous different ways to give them an update or a new lease on life. They can all be dressed up and down, pieces 2-4 in particular, the bodycon skirt is a little dressier in nature though it can be taken in very different directions. They could all also be different colours to suit your preferences-these are just my faves!
The cardi and jacket are two completely different pieces-though both statement items adding a lot to each outfit. The jacket is a strong basic piece-the braid giving it a twist that I love, but the style, cut and colour make it a jacket with great longevity and versatility. The colour/pattern of the cardi is just amazing, it goes with so many different colours-especially burgundy and navy which are both huuuuuge this AW.
The tops I’ve chosen include 2 on trend pieces and 2 basic tops adding great versatility to your wardrobe. The cami in particular is a massive fave of mine and you’ve seen it numerous times either in person or on my insta feed in several different looks. I’ve worn it with a lace top underneath, a sheer top underneath, a white tee underneath and as is. When you can wear a top 4 different ways you know you have a winner!!
Pop over to insta to see what I’m wearing Day 1…can you guess what I’m leading the challenge out with?!!! And if you can get organised, why not join in the challenge with me? Tag me in your pics so I can see what you’re wearing! xx
