I came across this brand new, Melbourne born and bred skincare label, Enbacci, at the Business Chicks #9tothrive event recently. My date, Nicole, had been to the event the day before, so knew all the best stalls to show me and Enbacci was one of the first she hustled me over to. I’m always a bit wary of new to me skincare products as I have a tendency to be sensitive and reactive at times but after a chat with Yong-Li, the Director and co-founder of the brand, I felt immediately comfortable about trying this skincare line. Her skin is just ah-MAZING too, always a great selling point!

*yes I’m still a tad excited by all I did and everyone I met at the event!
So what makes Enbacci differ from every other skincare line out there? Well, the exciting and innovative bit about Enbacci, is that it uses fruit stem cells, in particular grape stem cells. So basically it’s wine for your face! Who doesn’t want to get involved in that?! The grape stem cells have been known to reduce the appearance of ageing due to exposure to environmental stresses. The grape stem cells are extracted from a cultivated grape of the Gamay family (a purple-coloured grape variety most known for its use in the production of red wine). This particular variety of grape was selected, as they are very high in anthocyanin, which are powerful antioxidants and free radical scavengers. (Enbacci) Good yeah?! And if you check out the Enbacci facebook page, you’ll see a pic of Yong-Li with her dad who uses the skincare regime and barely looks any older than she does!!!!! So hands up, who wants in on this basically wine for the skin that makes you look super vibrant?!!!
I’ll hand over to Yong-Li to introduce Enbacci to you all;
Please give a brief introduction about yourself…
My name is Yong-Li. I am Director of Embrace Products Group Pty Ltd, and Co-Founder of Australian luxury skincare brand Enbacci. I am a music lover (classical holds a special place in my heart having played the piano and viola most of my life, but I listen to just about everything and anything), a bit of a sci-fi nerd, an avid traveller, a skincare educator and a fur mama to a beautiful pupper.
What is your business and what is it all about?
Enbacci is a luxury Australian skincare brand that is produced here in Melbourne. It is a brand that my Mum and I started a few years ago in order to develop luxury products that would cater to sensitive skin, our love of travel, and represent our familial values.
We utilise and incorporate innovative technology within our products. In particular, we use fruit stem cells in our highlighting products. We first launched our brand utilising grape stem cells, which are great protecting the skin from environmental damages and the appearance of the first signs of ageing. Last year, we introduced apple stem cells into our range of products through our eye cream, which provides ultimate hydration to the eye area to prevent the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Where do you do it from?
For the past four years, we have been selling our products solely online (www.enbacci.com) and have relied on social media marketing to share our story and our brand. We are excited to announce that we will open our first flagship store in our home city of Melbourne this November. It has been a long-term goal for us and we felt that this was a necessary step in order to be able to deliver the full luxury experience to our clients.
*when Megan Hess posts about a product, you know it’s utter luxury & amazing!
When did you start your business & why?
Mum and I first started this business when I was in first year of university (2012). We did not formally launch the brand until late 2013.
I had an early introduction into skincare when the start of puberty hit me at 10 years old. I’ll always have that memory of Mum taking me to the old Mecca at Chadstone and we went looking for a cleanser that would help with my acne. Even though we didn’t have a lot of money at that time, Mum felt it was important to spend good money on good skincare, not something from the local grocery store that was full of ingredients that was going to completely dry out and potentially cause damage to my skin. Having this first introduction into skincare as well as growing up seeing Mum suffer from sensitive skin, skincare just seemed like the natural choice. It was also through my experiences that I felt a need to educate not only young people, but people of all ages, the importance of having a good skincare routine. It was surprising to me to discover that some of the beauty bloggers out there don’t even have a skincare regime.
Why #shoplocal is important to you?
One of the main reasons we started Enbacci was because we recognised that there is a lot of untapped potential in Australia to produce luxury skincare. When one thinks of luxury skincare, one rarely thinks of Australia, yet, we have access to all these amazing resources and have all the infrastructure to do so.
#shoplocal is important to us because we believe in not only supporting our local market, but we should also be proud of it. Referring back to the question I ask people of where luxury skincare comes from, why not put Australia on the map as a main producer of luxury skincare?
The important question: TEA OR COFFEE???!!!!
If I had to pick one, then it would have to be tea. Growing up with a Chinese background, drinking cups and cups of green tea a day was the norm (almost like drinking water). Tea is also one of those drinks that suits any time of the day, whether it be a cup in the morning, a cold refreshing tea in the afternoon with lunch, or some peppermint tea to help with digestion after dinner.
Nonetheless, I do enjoy my long black coffee when it is needed.
